Hello Jeff, Nice to see you again!!
Survivor China started tonight, and so far the new season shows tons of promise. The China they are showing in this show is absolutely stunning. The Great Wall, beautiful mountains and lakes. Not a hint of pollution, factory or a dot of lead paint. The Survivors were pre split up into teams, which I always like. I hate it when they have to put themselves in teams. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that they couldn’t take any clothes with them, and this always makes us suffer through looking at people in their dirty underwear, which is just boring, and I always worry that they are going to be cold at night.
Of course one of the teams had their act together and built a shelter and won the first challenge. The other team is all over the place,no shelter, lost the challenge and then promptly kicked off the old guy, who was a farmer and probably had the only survival skills and grain of sense amoungst the lot of them.
The first night is always pretty boring because you are getting to know all the Survivors, and there are a lot of people to remember. So far, my favourite is James the Gravedigger. He seems nice.
I think this season of Survivor will be a good one, and at the very least we can see some magnificent footage of a seemingly untouched part of China
Let’s get serious about Fall TV.
I don’t really feel as excited about the TV line up for Fall as I did last year. I have way fewer new shows I’m trying out.
Monday I’ll be watching Samantha Who? with Christina Applegate and then Journeyman, which is about a guy who time travels and then solves murders or something. The previews look good. I was sure that there was another show coming about a New York Cop that could time travel to solve murders and he was the best detective in New York, but I can’t find that anywhere, and Journeyman is set in San Francisco and it has a time traveler in it, so maybe this is the show?
Tuesdays – only The Biggest Loser and Damages for the next 5 weeks, and Eureka for a couple of weeks. Damages is really starting to get fantastic. This weeks episode was a bit slow, because it was setting stuff up for the future, but next week looks great! I new Tate Donovan wasn’t to be trusted!!
Wednesday is all new shows, Pushing Daisies (which I give 2 weeks), Private Practice and the one I’m really looking forward to, Dirty Sexy Money. It looks like a fantastic nigttime soap.
Thursday is a very busy night. Survivor and Earl, then Grey’s and ER.
Friday I’m going to try Women’s Murder Club, but it’s probably won’t do that well because it’s on Friday night.
And Sunday is Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters, which I love.
Survivor and Earl start this week, because I’m getting really sick of having nothing to watch on my Tivo list.
Burn Notice will be finishing next week with a two hour finale. I think that has definitely be the most successful show of the summer and probably the year. And it’s all due to Jeffrey Donovan.
And lastly, I started to watch Torchwood on the BBC last Saturday night. It was surprisingly good, so I’m going to watch it again to see if it’s worth it.
Survivor Fiji
I’m so disappointed that Yau-Man didn’t win, but Earl is the next best thing. I just knew that Dreamz was not going to give Yau the immunity idol. I think Yau-Man is going to end up being one of the most popular survivors ever, like Rupert. I haven’t finished watching the whole reunion show – I had to turn it off because Dreamz was getting so irritating, not answering any questions. He couldn’t lie straight in bed. I think Jeff was getting pissed at him as well. Also the whole final three thing is stupid. I liked it much better when it was a final two situation. Cassandra never even had a chance and I think she knew it.
Now I’m looking forward to Survivor: China. I hope they cast the next one better than this one. The whole thing was boring until about 3 weeks ago.
Survivor: China!!
The next edition of Survivor is going to be filmed in China! This is really exciting. Finally, another type of location other than an island. It will still be in a hot climate, because they will film it this summer. I think that China is a fantastic location and there is lots of culture to explore and lots of yukky food they will have to eat. Maybe they’ll have to eat monkey brains and snake??
Variety says:
Production of U.S. entertainment projects in mainland China had been rare, due to logistical and government restrictions. But with a growing economy, China has begun a more open policy, including its active wooing to host the 2008 Beijing Olympics. While bigscreen features, such as the 2006 “The Painted Veil,” forged new ground by filming completely in China, CBS’s lensing of an entire series is a precedent for an American network.
I’ve been watching this season’s Survivor and it’s been a bit boring until they shook things up last week with a merge and then split for the challenge, and losers straight to tribal council. I hope the China thing really injects some new life into Survivor and it ends forever with a bang and not a whimper.
