Burn Notice

I’m loving Burn Notice on USA. It’s a great summer comedy drama about a secret agent who gets a “burn notice” in the middle of a job – effectively putting him out of business. They dump him in Miami and freeze his bank accounts and ruin his credit. So with the help of an FBI informing friend, he has to make a bit of money being a private invesitgator. It’s great mainly because of the performance of Jeffrey Donovan, who is the lead guy. He’s fantastic. Hot in an unobvious type of way and a great actor. His side kick is played by Bruce Campbell, who is also great, although a big hammy, but that might just be his character. The sub plots are self contained each week, and the on-going story is that. Highly recommended.
I’m also looking forward to Damages on FX. It starts this Tuesday and stars Glenn Close and Ted Danson. I’m not a huge Clenn Close fan, as I think she gets these freaky wierd looks on her face and calls it acting, but the show overall looks really good and FX is really making some great shows (eg Dirt).
This week in TV
I have a new favourite celebrity and her name is Victoria Beckham. I just loved her special on Monday night, Victoria Beckham: Coming to America. Posh has a fantastic sense of humour and knows how to make fun of herself. She made sure everyone knows that her whole paparazzi poker face is just that, an act for the photographers and gossip bloggers and magazines. I would have really liked to see her with her kids, but I think that she’s wise to keep them out of the media as much as she can – hopefully they’ll have a chance to be semi-normal. The only down side to the whole show was that she felt compelled to meet that troll, Perez Hilton, and give him and his shitful hair even more press than he gets now. I hate it when he gets on TV – he totally doesn’t deserve it. Why do celebs care what he says?
I thought she was just great and she seems strong enough that Tom will never be able to convert her to Scientology!!
You can watch the show on line here. It’s Major! – hahah.
It was like a switcheroo this week. Posh came here and Kathy Griffin went to England. The E! channel in Britain has bought the first two seasons of My Life on the D- List, so Kathy went over there to do some promotion and hopefully meet Ricky Gervais, which she managed to do. I thought the the Ricky Gervais scene could have been a bit longer, but I suppose the show is about Kathy. She seemed to be a hit over there – in fact I think that the Brits would probably get her jokes better than lots of Americans. The only downer to Kathy this week was that she too felt compelled to go and suck up to the dispicable Perez Hilton to get some press. I don’t get it.
Paula was exhausted again this week. Why doe she book herself up like that? She could probably ditch some of the assistants and cut back her schedule and live on the money she makes from American Idol. She needs to get rid of some her her team who just sit there and look at her. She did Letterman and threw a fit because her hair/makeup guy couldn’t get on a flight to NYC and her guy who tells her what to say wasn’t going to make it either. Has she heard of a phone? And it’s New York forgodssake – there must be a zillion great hairdressers and makup artists in NYC. Everyone has seen pictures of her and knows how she likes her hair. She is just creating all this drama for nothing. And sadly no one seems to have picked her up a prescription for Ambien yet. Thank God Perez Hilton wasn’t in this episode, that alone save it from being a total waste of time.
Traveler finished for the summer. They promised some answers but all we really got was a whole new set of questions. Sound familiar,Lost fans? I’ll still watch it when it comes back, probably half way through fall for a fill in
Whose famous butt is this????
This photo was taken by a friend of mine at the Tim McGraw/Faith Hill concert in Washinginton DC recently. This person freaked out when I said I wanted to put this up on my blog, and she said she didn’t want to be named as the photographer. The saddest part is that she was sitting right next to her husband at the concert when she took this photo. Let’s just call her Mrs L from Ashburn, VA. She is the biggest Tim McGraw fan on the East Coast – if not the whole USA. Mrs L has another photo of McGraw looking right at her and singing. She’s totally convinced he’s singing right to her. I didn’t want to put that photo up because the face is an obvious photo choice that any fan would make. The butt photo is another story entirely! Faith got a look in as well…….

Kitchen continuted….
So it turns out that the tilers put up the tiles in one section of the kitchen, ALL WRONG. That’s why we ran out of tiles. So they have to be ripped out and reinstalled. Sigh. Three new boxes of tiles where ordered all the way from Miami, and somehow they haven’t shown up yet. So I still have a section of the kitchen that I haven’t put anything back in the cabinets which is quite inconvenient.
I’m still painting the cabinets, it’s taking a really long time and right now the kitchen looks a bit like Willy Wonka’s everything halved office (Marc has absolutely no recollection of this scene in Willy Wonka, and that room is the best part of the movie for me!!).
Here’s some photos of the progress so far
