Cathie Watches TV

This blog no more….

I’ve been giving it a lot of thought, and I’m going to combine my blogs over at Cathie Cooks Food.  I’m not going to concentrate on TV so much, but more on food, which I’m really enjoying photographing and writing about, and also my family and my thoughts on stuff, but the main emphasis is going to be on the food. It’s been difficult maintaining both blogs, and I’d really like to be a daily blogger, but I can’t do it with two different blogs.

Would you believe…..

Nobody is as fantastic as Don Adams, but it looks like Steve Carrell is going to do a good job as Agent 86. This is one of my favorite childhood shows and I’m definitely seeing the movie! (Anne Hathaway even sounds a bit like 99)

Where the Hell Have I Been?

I’m here!! I’ve been in a bit of a flurry of activity with my food blog as FoodBuzz asked me to be a Featured Publisher. I was very excited by this and also a bit  confused because there a so many better food blogs out there and some of my photography is questionable, but I didn’t really hesistate to participate and then had to sign a four page agreement!!!  And Fooduzz put some nice advertising on my site. So I had to move my blog over to Blogspot, as WordPress doesn’t allow advertising.  So if you feel like it, visit my food blog and vote for me on FoodBuzz!

I’ve also been keeping up with my writers strike TV programming. I’m seriously enjoying Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. It’s really well done and the story moves along nicely.  Same premise as the movie - constantly being chased by a Terminator, but that is still holding up well and is very entertaining.

Cashmere Mafia is still entertaining as well. It’s just all silly nighttime soap fluff, but it’s keeping me busy until Dirty, Sexy Money comes back on (if ever).

We now have that huge time sucker on TV, American Idol. Yay! I still love it. And best news of all - Lost starts again next Thursday - I’m really looking forward to that!

Mercifully we had the season finale of Real Housewives of Orange County.  This season was more silly than usual and sort of boring. It think it’s because of Quinn. I just could not stand her and her hypocritical morals. What a stupid, self deluded woman she is. And Lauri’s wedding. Can you even imagine your THIRD wedding being like that?  I can’t wait to find out how much it cost. She’s going to spill the beans next week. I’m guessing around $500K including her dress. And everyone else was just totally blah this season.  I think it’s a product of being on for three seasons now, they are so much more aware of what is going on and blacklash etc, so that’s why I think they were all a bit reined in.

The most deluded woman of all, Jo De La Rosa showed up at the very end and told everyone that she was working full time finishing her album - hahahahahahahah. That is going to be a huge flop because she cannot sing and I don’t know who these fools are who keep telling her that she can. I hope she makes the talk show rounds, that should be really amusing.

And I have to mention politics - I feel bad for Edwards, who is having trouble getting a look in, even in the debate last Monday - he had to remind everyone that he was still there. The media is totally pathetic the way they are just focusing on Clinton and Obama. Give everyone equal time so people have a chance to see everything.  Poor Kucinich dropped out of the race today, and he’s going to concentrate on getting re-elected to Congress. I’m amazed he lasted this long. I’m just hoping that Edwards has a good showing in SC tomorrow, because if he doesn’t I don’t see how he’s going to have the money to stay in the race.

Last but not least, here’s an amaryllis that I’ve been growing since early December. It’s nice to look at when there is snow on the ground outside!

Things are Grim

No Golden Globes??? No Red Carpet??  This writers strike definitely has to end. Now. I can’t stand it much longer. Apparently there is going to be 157% more reality tv on the schedule until this whole mess is cleaned up.

I watched Cashmere Mafia yesterday. It was OK. I’m going to keep watching out of sheer desperation, but I don’t know that I would bother if my regular TV shows were one. It seems more of a summer show to me.  I was thoroughly entertained while I folded my laundry, which is all you can ask for really.

Last night was big. Stewart and Colbert came back on the air!  Yay! I’ll watch today sometime, but the Washington Post said that Stewart did really well. I didn’t expect anything less!!! I also have October Road and Anthony Bourdains No Reservations to watch. Tonight is Real Housewives and Life on Mars, so there is some viewing hope for the next couple of days.

Last weeks Real Housewives of Orange County was quite good because everyone except Quinn went on a vacation and Tamra got her boobs reduced. She is a total bubble head. They should have removed her brain and put in a saline sack and no one would even notice. She’s over 40 now and doesn’t need the big boobs, so she says. ugh.

Vicki screamed the whole way to Mexico and home again and then demanded thanks from everyone for taking them on the trip. She did a great job planning it, but I’m sure that teenagers don’t want to be woken up every morning at 7:00am to go on jungle hikes. She is really turning into a massive pain. She needs a reality slap.

Jeanna was boring and just went a long for the ride with Vicki and didn’t really have much to say except to insult Michael’s girlfriend. Yawn.

Quinn is the most irritating and hypocritical Housewife yet. I just can’t stand her and I don’t think she adds a thing to show. They should get rid of her.

Lauri took George and her girls and his girls RVing to Yellowstone Park which looked absolutely amazing. This is the first time that she’s acted like a real person, trying to make everyone have a does of reality in the RV. Scenes from next week show that she quickly goes back to her shallow botox ways at her wedding shower!!

Can’t wait to see this wedding!

All I want for Christmas………

All I want for Christmas is for the writers strike to be over. I want it to end tonight at midnight and then everyone can get back to work on Wednesday, writing all those great shows, and all the actors can stop wandering around and getting married or pregnant, and life can go back to normal.

This is what my “To DO” list on my Tivo looks like right now:

tivo.jpg

Nothing to watch.  There is Life on Mars tomorrow night and then a huge gap until Sunday when Amazing Race tapes, then nothing again until Tuesday. Even if the networks have a couple of new episodes of shows on the shelves, my prediction is there is no way anything is going to be put back on until sweeps in February, and the networks will use the shows then. So the whole of January is going to be one big nothing as far as TV viewing goes.

Real Housewives… Real Boring

I’m so not into this season  of Real Housewives at all.  As I said last week, the ladies have all gone down hill rapidly. This week, everyone except Lauri went to San Diego for the weekend to get Jeanna out of her shell and they stayed in some luxury suite which was twice as big as my house.  They probably still though that was slumming it, although I don’t see how. Vicki and Jeanna got into a “fight” on the way down in the limo, which wasn’t really a fight, more they had words. Well, at least Vicki had words, and then Jeanna said what she felt later to the camera in her one on one.

The thing that stood out to me the most in this episode is what a dumb tramp Tamra is. I have no clue how she is keeping any real estate clients. She’s just so inappropriate. I guess she thinks a hot body is her golden ticket to everything. I hope all her clients dump her and jump over to Jeanna. It might teach her a lesson.

And that Quinn is super annoying.  I’m glad she went over like a lead balloon at her “boyfriends” birthday party. Although that could have just been creative editing, but I’m sure if she’s annoying me, she’s annoying everyone else.

I hope the last couple of episodes are more entertaining than the first three - at least Lauri’s wedding will be interesting. And I was pleased to see Lauri doing something with Sophie, her one child that hasn’t disappointed her!

Other things I watched this week were : the season finale of Survivor. I though this season was quite good, but the ending was predictable with Todd winning. I thought for a few seconds that Courtney might win, which would have been excellent, but Todd prevailed.

Another reality show wrapped up and that was The Biggest Loser. People lost so much weight this season it was incredible.  It does seem that a woman is never going to win because the mean are either so much bigger or they can lose weight more easily, because season after season a guy wins. I was sort of hoping that Julie would win this time. She looked incredible at the finale and obviously worked really, really hard to get into shape.

And the best news all week: Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will be back on the air 7 January! yay!!

Gone to Hell in a Handcart

The Real Housewives of Orange County have really gone to hell in a handcart. What a pack of shrews they have turned into.  I really couldn’t stand any of them in Tuesday night’s episode. It was really sad. At least last seasonthere were some funny, light moments to go along with the shrieking and the botox. I can’t say that this season.

The “fame” has obviously gone to their heads. Vicki is still basically acting the same, but has no insight into herself and is a total hypocrite. When she was talking about teaching Michael to drink responsibly and then the next thing is she’s getting smashed in front of all the people she employees and works with. Nice.

Lauri tried on $10,000 wedding dresses and said “I’ll think about it” when her eldest daughter begged to be her maid of honour. What a lovely mother.

Jeanna is totally lame and doesn’t really have a clue about her kids. Colton seems like such a nice kid, but he’s probably going to turn out like Shane, who’s the obvious favourite and spoiled rotten and has a personality to match.

Tammy didn’t have much to say last night, which was good because she’s a total empty head.

Tamra is just plain unaware of how stupid she sounds and looks. She can probably sell tons of real estate in that area due to her looks, but she has nothing to say that is interesting and she needs to really give her kid a boot up the butt. I know all kids think they can start working at the top and earn lots of money, and Tamra needs to sit him down and give him a few facts. He’s 21. He can deal with it.

And as for Quinn the “new” housewife, she would have to be the most irritating housewife yet. Even more irritating than Jo De La Rosa. She is a self proclaimed Christian, but thinks nothing of dating two guys at once, and apparently is out every night, leaving her 14 yr with who?? I think her son should be the main man in her life right now, not that there is anything wrong with dating, but two guys at once has to be a huge time commitment. She also seems incredibly fake to me.

Next week promises some sort of fight between Vicki and Jeanna, but I’m sure it will turn out to be nothing, like the big cliff scare of two weeks ago.

New York

We went to New York yesterday to walk around and have the holiday experience and we also went to Central Park and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. My 7 yr old loved the museum and was upset a bit that we didn’t stay longer in there. I was disappointed because the whole 2nd floor was closed for renovation and all the exhibitions were really cramped because they are apparently renovating the whole place. The Temple of Dendur is still a really nice experienc and in the top photo the kids are  next to the minature sphinx and below we are standing outside the temple.

We also walked through Central Park and the kids climbed rocks and had a great time. We ate too much, but we also walked about 8 miles which made up for it!!

Real Housewives are Imploding

What is going on with the Real Housewives?  And who is the new chick Quinn, who appears to be a serial dater? We’ll find out the whole story on Quinn next week, but until then we will have to spend our time talking about how many of these rich kids feel the need to get a tattoo. I find that totally bizarre, the amount of time this show has spent in Season 3 in a tattoo parlor. Last night it was Ryan, Tamra’s son who got the entire side of his stomach tattooed. And it was damn ugly. I was quite sympathetic to Ryan in the first couple of episodes, but now he’s just a self fulfilling prophecy of stupidity.  I want to slap him and send him to his room.

The other person I want to slap is Megan and her baldy friends. I don’t blame Tammy’s boyfriend for throwing them off the boat. They are all spoiled brats. And those guys with the big disks in their ears - could they look any stupider?

And Lauri obviously doesn’t think her kids are watching the show because she said this week “Sophie is the only one of my kids that hasn’t disappointed me”. Maybe she should take a long hard look at herself and see how’s she’s disappointed her kids???

Vicki was absent most of this show and was only talked about by her kids as being crazy. Jeanna showed up for a few minutes to talk about body image issues and Hollywood, and they were the sanest Housewives of the night!!!
